Tomasino's Pizzeria to Bring a Taste of New York City to Florida Through Franchising

Jon and Elizabeth Gegaj, founders of Tomasino's New York Pizzeria, announced today major expansion plans through franchising aimed at expanding the Orlando-based pizza brand across the state of Florida.
“We are so excited about franchising Tomasino's across the state,” said Jon. 'We’ve been an Orlando pizza institution since 1999 and we’ve watched a lot of things grow and change in Central Florida. But one thing that has never changed is Orlando’s love of true, New York style pizza and Italian food.
Tomasino's has two operating units in Central Florida, and plans call for the brand to open 8 additional units in the Orlando area and another 8 units in Jacksonville and Tampa each by the end of 2014, with plans to enter the Miami and Palm Beach markets by 2015 through franchising and area development deals.
'Tomasino's is the evolution of our years in the food service industry. It takes time to learn how to master this business and develop a strong brand and a strong franchise system,' said Elizabeth. “Tomasino's is years and years of lessons learned, long hours, family recipes, family values and some magical times we have shared building this concept. Jon said there are a lot pizza concepts out there, but none offer what Tomasino's New York Pizzeria offers: love. 'You have to love what you do. I believe this with all my heart. We use the finest ingredients including San Marzano tomatoes, handpicked and shipped direct from San Marzano, Italy. We offer fresh food made fresh every day, and for us, that's what it's all about.'
Liz said the restaurant chain's pizza has been voted the 'best pizza in Orlando' and has developed a loyal following because of its New York roots. 'We are New Yorkers. We grew up in pizza shops. We hand toss our pies like in New York and we make the same style of pies we grew up on,' said Liz.
