Charlotte, N.C. – East Coast Wings & Grill, a North Carolina-based restaurant concept known for its 75 flavors of award-winning buffalo-style wings, recently opened its newest restaurant at 9711 Northlake Centre Parkway in Charlotte.

The expansion stems from a franchise development agreement with brothers JD and Jeff Penland to open five stores throughout the Greater Charlotte area over the next five years.

“While we have developed patiently over the last nine years, 2013 is going to be a big year for us in terms of restaurant openings,” said Sam Ballas, CEO of East Coast Wings & Grill. “We are a brand that is focused on strategic growth and are confident that Charlotte will be yet another successful market for us.”

In 2007, 24-year-old JD and 26-year-old Jeff decided to go into business for themselves and determined that franchising was the way to go. After investigating several franchise concepts, including Subway, the two aspiring entrepreneurs decided upon East Coast Wings & Grill, a burgeoning brand based in their native Winston-Salem.

“There are so many concepts to choose from once you decide to go into franchising; yet even with the vast amount of options, Jeff and I found exactly what we were looking for right in our own backyard” JD said. “Not only were we familiar with the brand, we found that no other concept offers the same high-level support for franchisees like East Coast Wings does. Once we had been given the opportunity to speak with current owners in the system, the positive feedback we received only confirmed our decision. The satisfied franchisees at East Coast Wings & Grill are a true testament to the company’s success.”

Today, JD and Jeff own and operate two restaurants—one in Kannapolis and the new location in Charlotte. They plan to open the additional locations in metro Charlotte and have their sights set on Concord, Matthews and the University area.

With 36 consecutive quarters of same-store sales increases, proving the concept to be successful in any economic climate, East Coast Wings & Grill is far different from the norm in the chicken wing segment. Focusing on great-tasting, freshly prepared food for families, deviating from the standard alcohol-driven environment typical of wing concepts, the flourishing brand creates a warm and inviting décor that leaves customers feeling a sense of community.  And while its 75 flavors of buffalo style wings, offered in an incredible 675 combinations ranked on a heat intensity scale, remain a staple of the concept, East Coast Wings & Grill’s six-page menu also includes such casual dining fare as burgers, salads, sandwiches and more.
