A valley school promotes fitness and philanthropy by having students participate in a 'fun run.'

Students at American Leadership Academy in Mesa ran in the Apex Fun Run to get excited about physical fitness and to raise money for needy kids in Peru.

Every student who was sponsored for $10 a lap will have a Hope kit sent to Peru in their name.

Each Hope package pays for a struggling student in Peru to go to school and their classroom supplies for a year.

Each class will get 10 percent of all the pledges made to use towards their classroom needs.

FOX 10's Kristy Siefkin reports.
