Wee Little Arts, a pre-school visual arts program, is now offering classes in Basking Ridge. The program is "dedicated to engaging and empowering children through the creative process," according to the press release announcing its arrival in North Central New Jersey.
The program offers eight-week sessions that build on each other to offer kids a complete visual arts experience. Four different eight-week sessions are offered: Elements of Art, Drawing, Painting and Three Dimensions. Children are taught using age-appropriate versions of children's literature with an art focus, and exposed to different art concepts and critical thinking. Other activities encourage the development of the children's fine motor skills and practice creating their own art.
The classes will be taught by local educator Marie Johnson, who said, "I'm thrilled by the opportunity to teach with Wee Little Arts. I know that children here will benefit from dynamic visual arts instruction and I'm thrilled to be able to share it with them."
"As a teacher and artist, I know that preschool-aged children benefit from lessons that challenge their thinking and really take advantage of their natural creativity," Johnson said in the release. "The Wee Little Arts method builds the skills that will continue to benefit children throughout their academic career."
Classes will be offered on Mondays at the Tree House Child Caring Center on 1 East Oak Street from 12:45 - 1:30 p.m., Tuesdays at the Gentle Shepherd Christian Preschool on 350 Lake Road from 11:15 - 12:30 p.m. and Fridays at the Weintal Preschool on 40 Whitenack Road from 12:30 - 1:15 p.m.
The cost per child for session 1 is $120 at Tree House and Weintal, and $144 at Gentle Shepherd.
